What can hypnosis therapy help with?

Hypnosis combined with talking therapy is a quick and highly effective approach to treating a wide range of issues, which can be categorised into 4 key areas:

  • Psychological – stress, anxiety, anger, sleep, depression, confidence, self esteem, decision making, concentration.

Sometimes we cannot think clearly enough to find solutions to our problems and instead can get caught up in dwelling on things over and over in our minds, which generates a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Hypnotherapy can break this cycle of being stuck in a rut with thoughts or behaviour and helps you to move forward and make confident decisions about what is best for you. This upbeat and enjoyable approach to therapy will have you leaving each session with a smile on your face and with a sense of real progress having been made.

Life can be challenging at times and we cannot control everything that happens to us. We can however control how we think about it and how we respond to it. Hypnotherapy teaches you this wonderful life skill of thinking in a more positive and rational way. When this happens life becomes that much easier and more fulfilling in ways you wouldn’t imagine!

What happens in the consultation?

The consultation is an opportunity for us to meet each other and discuss what you are seeking help with. The beauty of solution focused therapy means we won’t dwell on the problem, we will focus on how you want things to be. Although no treatment happens in the consultation, the session is very uplifting and clients often leave feeling hopeful about the future. You’ll receive a tailored explanation of how the mind works to take home with you. Once you have this information, you have the answer to your problem. Throughout our sessions together I’ll give you the tools and knowledge to change your life in the way you wish and these changes will have a lasting impact.

Subsequent hypnotherapy sessions involve much more than hypnosis. During the first part of each session we’ll talk about what has been good and I’ll be encouraging you to express yourself positively. We will scale your progress and agree a next step and any homework for that week. I’ll then guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis to embed and enhance what you have learnt during the session.

Is it safe?

Hypnosis is a safe and very powerful psychotherapeutic tool which can be used to break negative thought patterns. Trance is a common daily occurrence for everyone. We have all experienced the acute focus you can achieve when you are absorbed in a good book, watching a film or simply daydreaming. Hypnosis replicates this same deep state of concentration where your subconscious mind is more open to suggestions and new ways of doing things.

It’s rare that people take time out for themselves and totally switch off from the external world and focus internally but it is essential that we do.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions will depend on individual needs and this can be discussed at the consultation.

Will I be able to go into hypnosis?

The short answer is yes! We are all different and therefore will experience hypnosis in different ways but rest assured there is no right or wrong way of doing it and everybody can do it. Here’s a simple test for you – can you imagine the face of someone you know when they are not with you? Great, that is hypnosis – simply using your powerful imagination. We all have one we just need to use it in positive ways instead of negative ones. Most people say it is the highlight of their week and leave each session feeling refreshed and positive about the week ahead.

It is a totally natural, enjoyable and highly beneficial experience.
